Saison Technology Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Makoto Hayama, President & CEO; hereinafter referred to as "Saison Technology") will release "HULFT10," the latest version of its file integration middleware "HULFT" for on-premise systems on December 10, 2024.

This is the second major version upgrade since HULFT8 was launched in 2014, following the container-compatible version of Amazon ECS, which has been available in February 2024.

Background

In recent years, as digital transformation (DX) has been promoted by enterprises, cloud lift and cloud shift, in which IT systems running on-premise are moved to the cloud environment as part of system reform, have been progressing. On the other hand, systems for core systems such as production, sales, inventory control, and financial accounting have not been updated with the latest IT technologies, and are still being operated on mainframes, office-computers, and on-premise Linux and Windows servers.

Under such circumstances, corporate IT systems are becoming increasingly complex due to the mix of modern environments employing cloud technology and traditional on-premise environments. In addition, although there is a growing need for data integration in the field of business, there are issues such as delays in data integration across platforms due to the chronic lack of IT engineers, security requirements for integration such as data leakage and tampering, and the need to improve the efficiency of management processes. There is a need for secure interconnection and consistent management and operation of legacy systems from the cloud to on-premise systems.

HULFT10", the first major version upgrade in 10 years, has been enhanced by incorporating the latest technologies to move beyond the concept of simply connecting "HULFT" and "HULFT" to connecting across all IT system boundaries, focusing on three key areas: expanding the scope of use, improving usability, and enhancing security. This enables data integration from the cloud to legacy on-premise systems and reduces the number of management and operation hours.

Overview of HULFT10

HULFT is file integration middleware that transmits and receives data stored in IT systems, such as sales data, customer information, and log data generated in business activities. Since its debut in 1993, it has been utilized by over 11,000 companies in 46 countries worldwide*1. The enhancements in "HULFT10" are as follows:

  1. Expansion of the scope of use
Wide range of operating environments, from on-premise and legacy systems to IaaS

Continued support for mainframe/offline computer/Linux/Windows and other platforms*2, as well as Amazon ECS and Red Hat OpenShift-enabled*3 container platform versions for connecting container environments

Eliminate bottlenecks in heavily loaded systems
By changing the settings and log information of "HULFT" from the conventional internal retention to an external DB, it is possible to construct a system load balancing configuration according to usage conditions.

  2. Improvement of operability
Improved file transfer performance and reduced compression speed and CPU utilization

The new compression method "Zstandard" is used to achieve 1.4 times faster data transfer speed*4, and the zOS compression method "zEDC" improves the transfer speed by 5 times and reduces CPU utilization by 50%*5.

    Cost optimization through pay-as-you-go pricing
Container platform version uses a pay-as-you-go system where you pay for the time you actually use the service

Reduce HULFT management and operation time with integrated management middleware
Provides "HULFT10 API Gateway" for integrated management of multiple "HULFT" distributed on-premise and in the cloud via REST API and web screens.

  3. Enhanced Security
Data encryption with FIPS 140-2 certified modules

Secure file transfers by encrypting transferred data with the FIPS 140-2 certified "HULFT10 Cipher Option (AES)

High security to protect credit card and transaction information
Supporting compliance with the PCI DSS v4 system data security standard by implementing a function to delete transferred data in an unrecoverable state.

Supports mixed network environments, including Internet
HULFT10 SmartProxy" for secure data relay between on-premise and cloud via the Internet.
