Level upgrade procedure

To upgrade the level of EdgeStreaming Studio, perform a new setup of the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio and migrate the settings from the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

You can use the data import/export function to easily migrate data.

The overall flow of level upgrade is as follows:

 

  1. Use the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio to export projects and configuration data.

  2. Back up the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  3. Uninstall the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  4. Install the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  5. Apply the license file to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  6. Install the library in the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  7. Migrate customized settings to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  8. Start up the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

  9. Import the backup of the projects and configuration data to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

 

= Remarks =

After the level upgrade, you can use the projects and the scripts created before the level upgrade as they were.

 

  1. In the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio, export the projects and configuration data that you want to migrate to the new level.

    Select "EdgeStreaming Studio Settings" from Control Panel and execute exporting on the "EdgeStreaming Studio Settings" screen.

    For details on the procedure, refer to Export of data.

     

  2. Back up the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Terminate the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio and perform a backup. Use the file copying function of the OS to move the backup to a backup folder.

    1. Create a backup folder in an appropriate location.

    2. Copy the whole old-level EdgeStreaming Studio with the folders that were created during installation.

    3. Paste them into the backup folder.

     

  3. Uninstall the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Perform uninstallation of the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Use the file deletion function of the OS to delete all the folders created during installation.

     

  4. Install the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Perform installation of the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Place the EdgeStreaming module in an appropriate folder of the OS that you want to use for EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Note

    To install the new level, specify a folder that does not contain any files or folders as the installation destination folder.

     

  5. Apply the license file to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Apply the license file to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Place the license file (license.lic) under $EDGESTREAMING_HOME\server\lic.

    = Remarks =

    If EdgeStreaming has the same file structure as before migration, you can use the license file (license.lic) that was used before migration.

     

  6. Install the library.

    Install the library used for the various adapters in the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    For details, refer to Installation of libraries included in the new level.

     

  7. Migrate customized settings.

    If you customized the "Input count" for the following mapping logics in the old level, you need to set it again.

    <Target mapping logics>

    • "String" - "Calculation" - "Concatenate" logic

    • "Array" - "Basic" - "Add" logic

    • "Array" - "Basic" - "Add (maximum size adjustment)" logic

    Set the value of "icon.input.handler.max.count" in the "$EDGESTREAMING_HOME\client\conf\system.properties" of the old-level EdgeStreaming Studio for "icon.input.handler.max.count" in the "$EDGESTREAMING_HOME\client\conf\system.properties" of the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

     

  8. Start up the system after level upgrade.

    Start up the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

     

  9. Import projects and configuration data to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Import the projects and configuration data exported in step 1. to the new-level EdgeStreaming Studio.

    Select "EdgeStreaming Studio Settings" from Control Panel and execute importing on the " EdgeStreaming Studio Settings" screen.
