EBCDIC Code Set Conversion Template

When converting character code values between ASCII and EBCDIC, you can register user-defined conversion tables other than the default conversion tables supported by HULFT. This table is called the EBCDIC user table.

HULFT provides conversion template files for EBCDIC so that you can create an EBCDIC user table from one of them.

Based on the EBCDIC Code Set Conversion Template file, register an EBCDIC user table with HULFT.

Register the table as follows:

  • HULFT for Mainframe

Use the EBCDIC user table template JCL.

  • HULFT for IBMi

Use the EBCDIC User Table Expand command (UTLUCEXTD).

  • HULFT for Linux/AIX

Use the EBCDIC User Table Expand command (utlucextd).

  • HULFT for NonStop

Use the EBCDIC User Table Expand command (utlucextd).

  • HULFT for Windows

Use the EBCDIC User Table Registration screen of HULFT Management Console.

For details on the EBCDIC user table registration method, refer to the following:

HULFT10 for Windows Administration Manual : EBCDIC user table settings

HULFT10 for Linux/AIX Administration Manual : EBCDIC user table settings

HULFT10 for IBMi Administration Manual : EBCDIC User Table Settings

Custom Character Conversion Template

HULFT provides Custom Character Table files as conversion template files for custom character codes (double byte codes). To create a custom character table, use the appropriate Custom Character Table file, which is a Custom Character Conversion Template file.

Based on the Custom Character Conversion Template file, register a custom character table with HULFT.

Register the table as follows:

  • HULFT for Mainframe

Use the External Character Table Expand program (XRECTBL).

  • HULFT for IBMi

Use the Custom Character Table Translate command (UTLGTFEXTD).

  • HULFT for Linux/AIX

Use the Custom Character Table Translate command (utlgtfextd).

  • HULFT for NonStop

Use the Custom Character Table Translate command (utlgtfextd).

  • HULFT for Windows

Use the Custom Character Table Registration screen of HULFT Management Console.

Alternatively, use the Custom Character Table Translate command (utlgtfextdV).
