Regarding test execution
There are two types of testing: testing in the Studio execution environment, which is run in the same environment as EdgeStreaming Studio, and testing in the remote environment, which is run on the IoT gateway. Each of the two types of testing can be used for different purposes as described below.
Testing in the Studio execution environment
-
When you want to run testing and debugging on a frequent basis
-
When the device from which you want to acquire data (or that you want to control) by using the script can also be accessed in the environment in which EdgeStreaming Studio is run (via network, USB, or other connections)
Testing in a remote environment
-
When you want to run testing in an environment similar to the operational environment
-
When the device from which you want to acquire data (or that you want to control) by using the script can be accessed from the IoT gateway only (when connected directly to the circuit board or other cases)
= Remarks =
In order to run testing in a remote environment, you must be able to connect via SSH from the environment where EdgeStreaming Studio is running to the IoT gateway or another remote location. |
The explanation hereafter uses the script created in Scenario: Obtaining the CPU utilization and free disk space of the script execution environment as an example for testing.
