User management

In HULFT Square, an administrator manages users in groups and manages the permissions of the users by applying policies to the groups they belong to.

The following figure illustrates an overview of user management.

Figure 1.9 User management overview

Users

A user represents the person who uses HULFT Square. A user is added to one or more groups. The user inherits all the permissions of the groups.

Groups

A group is a collection of multiple users who have the same roles, such as development and support. You can use a group to apply one or more policies to multiple users at once.

The Developer group, the TechnicalSupport group, the SystemOperator group, and the Admin group are provided by default.

Permissions

A permission indicates the functions of HULFT Square that users can use.

An administrator grants the permissions necessary to perform tasks to all users. For details on granting permissions, refer to Policies.

Policies

A policy is a collection of permissions that is assigned to a group.

An administrator creates policies. Some predefined policies are provided in HULFT Square. For details on permissions and predefined policies to use HULFT Square, refer to List of policies and permissions.

You can use a policy to assign the same set of permissions to multiple users in a group. For a group, an administrator can assign one or more policies.
