Preparation for a version upgrade

(1) Ending of HULFT

End HULFT before performing a version upgrade.

For details about how to end HULFT, refer to Operation Manual for the product on which you intend to perform version upgrade.

You may not be able to perform a version upgrade successfully if HULFT is running.

(2) Creation of HULFT backup files

Create backup files of HULFT.

For details about how to create backup files, refer to Backup in HULFT Ver.6 when upgrading from HULFT Ver.6 and
Backup in HULFT Ver.7 when upgrading from HULFT Ver.7.

(3) Confirmation of custom character conversion exit routines

If you have created custom character conversion exit routines and have stored the routines in HULFT load module library, create a backup file of HULFT load module library. You must carry out conversion of the exit routines from the backup that you make of the HULFT load module library when you perform a version upgrade.

(4) Confirmation of EBCDIC User Table

If you created and are using an EBCDIC user table, you must re-create the table after performing a version upgrade. Therefore, check if you have created an EBCDIC user table.

If you have created EBCDIC user tables with one of the following members in HULFT JCL library, change the names of the corresponding members to a different name:

  • XREBCASC

  • XRASCEBC

  • XREBCEUC

  • XREUCEBC

  • XRSJSCNV

  • XREUCCNV
