Send Multiplex Level

In the Send system, you can specify the number of transfers that HULFT can carry out at a time. The following are the types of Send Multiplex Level:

  • Send Process Multiplex Level (sndpsnum) for setting the multiplex level of sending in the entire Send system

  • Send Process Multiplex Level by Host (HOSTSPSNUM) for configuring the multiplex level of sending on a per-host basis

(1) Send Multiplex Level for the entire system

You can set the multiplex level of sending in the entire system by specifying Send Process Multiplex Level in the System Environment Settings.

If HULFT issues more Send File commands (utlsend.exe) than the value specified in Send Process Multiplex Level, the application places the excess on the Resend Queue, and waits until the ongoing thread ends and a new transfer becomes possible.

(2) Send Multiplex Level by host

You can specify the multiplex level of sending on a per-host basis, by configuring Send Process Multiplex Level by Host in the Host Information.

If HULFT acknowledges more Send File commands than the value specified in Send Process Multiplex Level by Host, the application places the excess on the Resend Queue, and waits until the ongoing thread ends and a new transfer becomes possible.

If Send Process Multiplex Level by Host is modified, the modifications are applied starting with the next Send File command that is acknowledged.

When HULFT issues more requests than the value that is specified in Send Process Multiplex Level, the application treats the requests as waiting state, even if the number of requests does not exceed the value that is specified in Send Process Multiplex Level by Host. Make sure the value for Send Process Multiplex Level by Host is not greater than the value for Send Process Multiplex Level.

= Remarks =

For the multiplicity of send processing in the entire system, HULFT counts the number of all the send processing instances including the send processing instances of instant transfer.

For the multiplicity of send processing per host, HULFT counts only the number of the send processing instances that use the management information.
