In HULFT Ver.7, checking range of the external character has been enhanced. The improvement provides different checking ranges between HULFT Ver.6 and HULFT8 for Kanji in JIS level 1 and JIS level 2.

(1) In the case of EUC-JP or KEIS

Enhancement in checking range of the external character is effective only when following patterns of conversion is carried out:

  • Conversion to Shift-JIS from EUC-JP and KEIS

In Table 6.71 , shown in blue is the range of the characters to be converted as Kanji:

(2) In the case of Shift-JIS

Enhancement in checking range of the external character is effective only when following patterns of conversion is carried out:

  • Conversion to EUC-JP, IBM, JEF, KEIS, or NEC from Shift-JIS
