Limitations on use of HULFT Cipher Options

(1) Encryption Scheme of Sending Host and Receiving Host

In HULFT Ver.8.4.0 or higher, HULFT Cipher Option (C4S) and HULFT Cipher Option (AES) can coexist in a single environment at the same time.

HULFT encrypts files by selecting the strongest Encryption Scheme from Encryption Schemes commonly available for the host on the sending side and the host on the receiving side. The following shows the strength:

AES > C4S > HULFT Encryption Scheme

The relation between the encryption scheme available both on the sending-side host and the receiving-side host, and the selected encryption scheme is shown in the following table.

The data is garbled or a transfer error occurred, because HULFT cannot detect the difference between the encryption schemes.

*1

:

When HULFT Cipher Option is not installed, HULFT Encryption Scheme is used as the encryption scheme.

*2

:

In a version lower than Ver.8.4.0, AES and C4S cannot be installed at the same time.

(2) Limitations on Interfacing with HULFT-HUB Server

Instances of HULFT on which HULFT Cipher Options is installed can work only with instances of HULFT-HUB Server on which the same type of HULFT-HUB Server Cipher Options is installed.

(3) Limitations in Line with Version Upgrade of HULFT

When you upgrade the version of HULFT to Ver.8, you must also upgrade the version of HULFT Cipher Options to Ver.8. For details, refer to HULFT series products that require a version, level, or revision upgrade.

(4) Limitations on Forced Strong Key Mode

The following shows the limitations when Forced Strong Key Mode is set to "Enable".

Limitations on connecting to HULFT

Instant transfer cannot be performed.

Also, in the following cases, all communications including request issuances cannot be performed.

  • When Forced Strong Key Mode of the remote host is set to "Disable"

  • When the version of HULFT on the remote host is lower than Ver.8.4.0

Limitations in features of HULFT Manager

HULFT Manager of the version lower than Ver.8.4.0 cannot connect to HULFT, where Forced Strong Key mode is set to "Enable".

Limitations on interfacing with HULFT-HUB Server

If HULFT-HUB Server is lower than Ver.3.9.0, registration and management cannot be performed for HULFT, where Forced Strong Key mode is set to "Enabled".

The behavior is not guaranteed.
