Operation Log Output

HULFT can keep records that indicate what has been done by whom (such as command execution and file access on the local host), and can output the records. This function is called 'Operation Log Output.'

If a suspicious log record is found, or if an improper value is found in the management information, you can check the operation log to identify an unauthorized access or a settings error.

Operation Log Types

The operation log is output in the following cases:

  • When a request is issued to the HULFT system

  • When the HULFT system command is run

  • When the HULFT system accesses a system file

Figure 2.49 Operation Logs

When a request is issued to the HULFT system or a HULFT system command is run, a record is output to an operation log. This operation log is called the 'Command Execution Log.'

The operation log that is output when the HULFT system accesses a system file is called the 'File Access Log.'

Notify User Details

The destination host and the local host can be notified of the user ID of the local host, and then the ID is output to the operation log. This function is called 'Notify User Details.'

Set Notify User Details in the Host Information. You can configure the Host Information on the HULFT Management Console or by running a command.

Automatic rotation of operation log files

You can automatically create a backup of an operation log file when the file reaches a certain size. This function is called 'automatic rotation of operation log files.'

Set the automatic rotation of operation log files in Operation Log Auto Rotate Size and in Operation Log Generations of the System Environment Settings.

= Remarks =
  • You can also rotate operation log files manually.

  • HULFT for zOS and HULFT for MSP use the generation data group (GDG) function to create backups of operation logs.

  • HULFT for XSP uses the generation file function of the operating system to create backups of operation logs.
