Padding data with space codes due to decreased data size

Code conversion may result in the reduction of the data size, which makes the data length shorter than the field length in the Format Information.

HULFT pads the data with single-byte space codes after conversion, if the data becomes shorter than the field length.

HULFT uses a single-byte space code as the space code for padding, regardless of which of the following is specified for the field type in the Format Information:

  • Variable-length Characters (M)

  • Double-byte Graphic Characters (N)
