When a record of the Format Information is saved for the first time or updated with Start Position omitted, an automatically calculated value is registered

Phenomenon

When a record of the Format Information is saved for the first time or updated with Start Position omitted, an automatically calculated value is registered.

In this case, Start Position is not treated as omitted, and the registered value is retained.

When you perform new registration or modification by using the Management Information Batch Registration program (XRSYSINF) or HULFT Manager, the below behavior occurs.

Result displayed on the Management Console

Before updating the Format Information:

Start Position is displayed as blank

After updating the Format Information:

An automatically calculated value is displayed for Start Position

Result output by the Management Information Parameter File Generation program (XRINFGEN)

Before updating the Format Information:

Start Position is output as "*"

After updating the Format Information:

An automatically calculated value is output for Start Position

Result displayed on HULFT Manager

Before updating the Format Information:

Start Position is displayed as blank

After updating the Format Information:

An automatically calculated value is displayed for Start Position

Condition to reproduce

This phenomenon occurs when all of the following conditions are met:

• A record of the Format Information is registered with Start Position of one of the fields omitted (automatically calculated)

• The Format Information record described above is saved for the first time or updated by using one of the below methods

  • Performing new registration or modification of the Format Information record by using the Management Information Batch Registration program (XRSYSINF)

  • Performing new registration or modification of the Format Information record by connecting to HULFT8 for zOS from HULFT Manager

  • Performing new registration or modification of the Format Information record by using the management information import function on HULFT Manager

Even if the above conditions are met, Start Position is registered as omitted (automatically calculated).
