Monitored files

Specify the names of folders and files to be monitored on the File Trigger Information screen or with the Management Information Batch Registration command (utliupdt.exe).

Monitoring subfolders

When you specify 'Yes' for Monitor Subdirectories (SUBDIRECTORY), you can monitor files in the subfolders of the monitored folders.

Monitoring multiple files

Use a regular expression or a wild card to monitor multiple files at the same time.

When you specify 'Yes' for Use Regular Expression (REGEX), you can use regular expressions in file names.

When you specify 'No' for Use Regular Expression, you can use wild cards in file names.

For example, specify '*.txt' for File Name (TARGETFILENAME) to monitor all files with the .txt extension in the folder that you specify for Path to Directory (DIRECTORYNAME).

However, you cannot use a regular expression or a wild card for specification of the folder name.

Note
  • You cannot specify a regular expression and a wild card together.

  • HULFT does not monitor a file if the total length of the folder name and the file name exceeds 200 bytes. Be sure to take this into account when you include a regular expression or a wild card (an asterisk (*)) when you specify the folder name and the file name for Path to Directory and for File Name.

  • If you specify a file name that includes a regular expression or a wild card (an asterisk (*)), HULFT does not monitor files that are used for exclusive control of HULFT networked file locking (files whose names start with '.#HULLOCK.'). Refer to Handling of networked files for details.

  • When monitoring networked files, you might need to disable oplock. Refer to Handling of networked files for details.
