Example of including EBCDIC user table

The method for converting '' (Yen sign; ASCII: 0x5c) to '\' (backslash; EBCDIC: 0xE0) based on the EBCDIC Kana character conversion to convert codes from ASCII to EBCDIC and creating the settings for user table 1 is described below.

The example explains the case where HULFT is installed in the HULFT library.

Copying the template file

Copy the template file for the EBCDIC Kana character conversion.

In this example, the case where the 'USERCODE(AS2EBKN)' file is copied under the USERCODE library, is explained.

Editing the copied file

Edit the copied file 'USERCODE/USERCODE (AS2EBKN)' with SEU.

  • The 19th line starting with "*COMMENT=" is a comment string about the EBCDIC user table.

    You can specify a comment string of up to 60 bytes after "*COMMENT=".

    You can also specify 0x7B instead of "*" as the first character in the comment line. However, the character represented by 0x7B varies depending on the code set. In the code sets for Japanese, 0x7B represents '#.'

  • The shading 'E0' has been changed.

Creating the conversion file

Create the user table translated file (conversion file) for user table 1
