Convertible code set combinations
HULFT returns an error if you attempt to convert codes during file transfer between a Japanese character code set and a Chinese character code set.
However, you can convert UTF-8 to and from any code set, as UTF-8 can handle data of any country.
In addition, GB18030 includes all the characters in Unicode, but HULFT can use GB18030 only for Code-set Conversion for Chinese.
The following shows combinations of code sets that are convertible in HULFT.
Code Conversion is possible only for the combinations that are indicated with "✓" (Convertible) in Table 1.13 and Table 1.14 .

HULFT supports Code-set Conversion for Chinese only when the host on the sending side and the host on the receiving side both run HULFT Ver.8.1 or higher.

You can specify IBM Simplified Chinese as the code set of the transferred file only in HULFT for IBMi.

If you use IBM Simplified Chinese, the only type of EBCDIC that HULFT can use in combination is Simplified Chinese Extended.
