Providing secure intra/inter-corporate data interface - HULFT7e

Questions About HULFT7e

QHULFT7e can output the Operation Logs as CSV files, but does HULFT have a viewer that allows those logs (Audit Logs) to be viewed?

ANo viewer has been planned for HULFT.

QIn order to improve transfer reliability and certainty, HULFT7e employs hash values. However, is it conceivable that the load on the existing network will increase as a result?

AOur tests showed that there is virtually no impact on the network.

QIn addition to the Operation Log, I would like specifications that allow me to get logs needed in fault tracing. Is that possible?

AUnfortunately, not at this time. We will consider whether to include the function you are requesting in next versions and levels.

QWhere can I check HULFT7e operating environments?

APlease ask our support center for the latest information on HULFT7e operating environments.

QDo you plan to provide support for NFS?

AAt present, it is outside of our operation guarantee range. We also do not have plans to support yet.

QIs it possible to specify a specific period (for example, the previous one-week period) when extracting the Operation Log using a command?

AThe display command shows a fixed period so you cannot specify a period like the last one week. Operation Logs are recorded as CSV files, so you can put them into any format that you prefer for your use.

QThere may be a problem of network occupancy as a result of transfer performance improvement. Is it possible to control transfer performance itself? Also, is there a difference in transfer performance between HULFT versions 7 and 6?

ATransfer performance is not automatically controlled, but you can select transfer modes which makes it possible for you to select the one that is best for your operating environment.
High-speed transfers cannot be used if HULFT at the other end of the connection is version 6 or earlier.

QDoes HULFT support a virtual environment?

AWe have not verified individual operations for specific virtual environments. However, if the OS and middleware that is running in a specific virtual environment conforms to OS and middleware our products support, our products accordingly support such virtual environment.
If it is found that a specific virtual environment has an effect on the operation of our products, we may issue technical information separately to provide you with specific cautions

QHULFT7e has a mode that increases the transfer speed, but when should such high-speed transfer mode be used? Please clarify this if you have any guidelines.

AIf you have several MB of data to transfer, select the conventional mode. If you have larger volumes of data, a good guideline is to select a speed-priority mode.

QWhich of the transfer modes implemented with HULFT7e corresponds to the transfer modes on HULFT6e?

ATransfer mode "N" corresponds.

QWhy is it possible to increase the data transfer rate?

ABecause it is now possible to switch modes from a synchronous transfer mode to an asynchronous transfer mode.

QIs it now possible to get the Command Execution Log in the Operation Log?

AYes, it is. You can get both Command Execution Log and File Access Log.

QIs HULFT7e improvement feature "specification of the maximum value to consider the return code at job execution to be normal" enabled even for Pre-send Jobs?

AYes, but it is enabled only for mainframe products.

QAre XRSYSIN cards that do not get the Operation Log as un-compatible with HULFT7e the same as before? Also, how will it be defined to get the Operation Log?

AXRSYSIN cards that do not get the Operation Log are the same as before; no changes are necessary. The operation manual describes definition methods for getting the Operation Log. See that for details.

QAre the Send File and Send Request included in the Operation Log?

AYes, they are. They are output as the Command Execution Log.

QWhen files are being transferred, to what degree is there an increase in usage of computer resources and network by HULFT?

AIf the transfer-speed priority mode is selected, transferring data takes priority, so computer and network resources will be utilized to the allowable extent for transferring data.
We do offer a compatibility mode with HULFT6e, so you can select either a speed priority mode or a compatibility mode.

QIs the setting of the maximum value that considers the return code at job execution to be normal also applicable to Pre-send Jobs?

AYes, it is. You can specify settings for each unit of the Job Automatic Information.

QDo I need to prepare anything to download HULFT7e product module and issue a product key?

AYes, you do. You need the following items to issue a HULFT7e product key.

  • Serial No. and SP Code Notification sent from us
  • Revisions of HULFT product and optional products you are planning to introduce
  • The types of OS and CPU of the machine to which you plan to introduce HULFT7e
  • Host name of the machine to which you plan to introduce HULFT7e

Click the [Obtaining Product Key] on the top page of HULFT.com, then follow the directions that appear on the screen to enter information and issue the product key.

QI have heard that HULFT7e and subsequent products are downloaded via the Internet. If the volume of data is in megabyte units, it will be very hard for us to actually download the products. Specifically, how long does it take to complete the download?

AIf you download a 200MB module over a 10Mbps line, you should be able to complete the download in approximately 15 minutes. Please note that downloading times can vary depending on the communication status and your environment.

QWhen should I have the product key reissued?

AThe reissue of the product key is required when the changes described below have been made while you use the product.
Make sure to have the product key reissued without fail, as setup or startup of the product as well as the support service may not be available without reissue of the product key.

1. In the cases where following information has been changed due to modification in the installation environment of the product:

  • Change in the Host Name of the machine on which the product is installed
  • Change in the location address of the machine on which the product is installed
  • Change of the machine on which the product is installed
  • Change of OS on which the product is installed

2. In the cases where following changes in the product or its structure have been made:

  • Revision Upgrade or Level Upgrade of the product
  • Switchover to superior grade of the product
  • Version Upgrade of the product
  • Switchover from the Trial version to the Product version of the product
  • Prior application or order may be required depending upon the detail of the change. For details, contact our agent or HULFT sales representative.
  • The same product key may be issued depending upon the detail of the change.
  • The reissue of the product key is available from the side menu 'Obtaining Product Key' on following URL: http://www.hulft.com/software/hulft_7e/
